The Proposal

I figured i'll start from the proposal...trust me, it's easier...

WARNING : THIS POST IS LONG BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO SPLIT IT INTO 2 SO I TRIED TO FINISH IT

It was one of those February 14th cliche'.

After church on that sunday afternoon, SH ( as he would henceforth be called) got on the phone with a friend (Pops as he would be called because his role from now on will be vital) and talked about going to see another friend who was having marital problems and how they thought they could talk some sense into him.

I was kinda/sorta upset that of all days he had chosen sunday to go and solve someone else's problem. Not because i wanted to do any thing special because the restaurants were going to be packed anyway but i wanted us to just chill...i had gotten him a pair of shoes for our monthly gift exchange...so vals day was no biggie. He wanted me to wait till they got back but i was having none of them, made it clear that i was just going to go to my house. He did mention that we should go have dinner afterwards but i was turned off already.

I was napping at home and silently beefing him when he calls and says we should go out and eat...of-course i was quick to say no! He asked that i cook then and of-course nothing like that was going to happen so i quickly agreed to going out. I remembered that he had not changed from his church clothes so i decided to put back on what i wore to church as well so that am not looking like the help...

We got on the road and assumed we were going to his favorite spot but when i noticed we went a different route, i asked where we were going and that's when he mentioned that we could do something different today...so i complained no more... and just enjoyed the ride...

We had been tlaking about visiting this particular place as we had heard some nice stuffs about the place but we never got around to going so it was a very pleasant surprise that that was where we ended up.

Did i mention that all the while, another friend of our's had been calling and he would not pick up?

We had options on where we could eat and finally settled for an Italian cozy buffet after walking around like some serious lovers and observing other lovers, fireworks, jazz pianists, and different kinda people sha... During Dinner, i think we had to different proposals take place with the ladies crying and all...

I must mention that all through dinner, this friend of our's kept calling again but SH would still not pick up.

After dinner, i expressed my thanks and even mentioned that it would be nice for us to come spend the weekend there sometime. We left after paying our $8 parking fees.

Shortly after we left, this friend calls again and i just had to force him to pick up, atleast i thought that was what i was doing..he finally picks up and puts the phone on speaker...our friends where mighty excited on the other end and screaming that they just got engaged. I sure was happy for them but i think i felt a little pang of jealousy especially since i know their beginning as well...They mentioned they were at the same place we just left but in the hotel wing... and after telling them we just left there too, they asked/begged that we turn back and come have drinks with them. SH even asked me if it was ok or we should just go home, of-course it was ok!

We had to find the next exit and find our way back to the place. So SH wants to take his laptop in and i totally disagree...we kinda/sorta argue about it as his claiming that he want to show him some business ideas they had been talking about and am insisting that not on a day like this. We finally go in and his even asking for where the elevator is while am trying to act like am used to coming to places like it...He calls friends back and ask for room number and letting them know we are on our way up.

We get up and can't find room #...we walked from one end of the block to the other and am asking him to call them back to ask for the room again since we can't find room 301....For some reason he refuses to call and just keeps walking along the block checking while am just standing there. Of-course am upset at this point (yeah am impatient...well, my heels were not for doing a lot of walking) He finally calls them and they mention the right room only to find out i had been standing infront of it for the last 5mins. While his on the phone with them and telling them we're outside, i step aside and his knocking on the door of the room and at the same time his pulling out a card to open the door. I was not paying much attention or maybe it just was not registering properly what was going on. The door comes open and then just as i step in looking for the happy couple, and barely closing the door, SH is kneeling down in front and saying a whole bunch of stuff i can't remember now because i was busy staring at the " will you marry me" written on the floor with rose petals and the bottle of champagne in the bucket with ice.

Getting back to him still kneeling, i see he has a ring pulled out and my eyes are popping open while i snatch the ring away from him to look more...lol...his at this time asking for an answer that came out quick enough...

He puts the ring on the right finger and we seal it with a kiss and then was told we were spending the night there....I first disagreed because i have to be comfortable when i go to sleep and that means i can't sleep with make up on my face and besides, i aunt flo was visiting and since it was lite i didn't bring a change...SH just ask that i look in the closet and to my surprise, he had all of those things taking care of....(yes, even up to security for aunt flo) i was impressed!
.
The rest of the nite was spent calling family and close friends who already knew and were waiting...Even daddy in Nigeria was still away and this was like 3-4a.m in nigeria...

Gift of life

Between our daily struggles sometimes we forget to appreciate God for something as simple as the gift of life. I was once again reminded how precious and great a gift life is....

Early this morning i got a call from my daddy saying my Brother's father-in-law was killed by armed robbers on his way back from their home town.

It's got to be one of the saddest things i've heard in a long time for several reasons...

***well, first because his somewhat a relative albeit by marriage but somehow him and daddy became close...
***His only son's wedding was to take place this coming weekend in london...the parents were supposed to leave for london Tomorrow.
***my sister-in-law is the last born and somehow daddy's little girl even though with two kids.
***It was not a peaceful death

Am especially saddened because my father has gone through the same experience with armed robbers fortunately his life was spared...

A lot of people are already in london for the upcoming wedding including daddy not only to play in-law but because the son is also marrying a cousin who is daddy's niece....yeah we're keeping it in the family...lol...Daddy and the man had planned to chill together on Wednesday upon their arrival in london...

I pray the Lord will comfort the whole family at this time...I spoke to sis in-law and she sounded strong!

My blog

i know i have so ignored this blog, not because i lack what to blog about but i think laziness plays a big part in it....also, i no longer have the sort of privacy i used to have during work hours; i now constantly have someone looking at what am doing...*hissssssssssssss.*

I've been thinking about how i could also get motivation to update the blog so i've decided to join the wedding lot and thus, am going to document my journey down the aisle on this blog.

I think i have about a year...which should be good...God help me! I can't promise i'll do this all religiously but i'll be here from time to time to catch up.

Not sure where to start though so once i figure it out i'll be back to start am thinking for the sake of my special friend GNG who is probably very very mad at me now, i'll start from the proposal...hehehehe...

Gotto go now!
