Blogging or Vlogging?

I know a lot of bloggers from back in the days that have now switched to vlogging and have capitalized on it (Apparently there is good money to be made with you-tube).  While I was thinking about starting a new blog I also considered vlogs. The thought definitely sounded nice in my head (as things in my head always sounds nice) but the reality was a total joke…lol (yes! I made a video).  Kudos to those you-tubers.
I am not much of a talker and it pains me to hear myself talk for even 10 minutes. I actually get tired of you-tubers that just sit and talk. No matter what it is they are saying I tend to tune out or change it away from channel after a few minutes unless they switch it around and show us something else.
Blogging for me is therapeutic. It’s like I’m keeping a private (in a public space) dairy. I’m voicing the thoughts in my head but not to anyone in particular because sometimes it’s harder to articulate to someone you know. There really are times when I do have gist but there is no one to share it with at that moment. Being able to document it gives me comfort.
I actually enjoy writing.
Anyone who knows me well will agree that I am extremely private and secretive so doing vlogs will totally be out of my comfort zone (maybe I do need to get out of my comfort zone). I think this privacy issue was one of the hardest things adjusting to in marriage as hubby has “no secrets”..lol (story for another day). Ironically, I can spill all by writing. I can pretend no one knows me and write it all.
People who vlog tend to dress up and look good for the camera even if they are not going anywhere. I am too lazy to do that. With blogs I can write anywhere and anytime and won’t have to bother about looking good for the camera. I’ve heard some vloggers say they can’t be bothered dressing up, let’s be honest, we’re not all photogenic people. Please try some if you’re vlogging.
Ok, I think I’ve justified to myself why I shouldn’t dabble in vlogs just yet. Maybe someday! Right now, I’ll enjoy blogging.

All Africans are Democrats?

Yesterday, November 6th was voting day in the US. It was the mid-term elections. For the first time I was feeling very proud to have exercised the right to vote and proudly wore my sticker like It was a badge of honor. After voting, I decided to make a quick stop at the closest African store as I had prepared this indomie noodles meal in my head all day (I watch a lot food prep clips on Instagram). I needed to make this meal a reality hence the quick stop.
When It was time to pay, the following conversation ensued between the cashier and I:
Cashier: So you voted?
Me: I sure did (with a big grin on my face)
Cashier: You voted for democrats, why are you a democrat?
Me: Excuse me (very confused at this point)
Cashier: All you Africans just say you are democrats; you don’t know why you are democrat.
Me: (Can I just say here that at this time, I could hear my heart beating faster, my ears ringing and my chest burning!) I am not an ignorant voter, I am informed. I f you understand why we need a shift in power in congress then you probably wouldn’t make such an ignorant statement; unfortunately, I have kids to pick up and can’t stay to chat.
Cashier: (With a silly smirk on his face as if he was sent to torment me…”get thee behind me”) We republicans, we republicans
Obviously at this point I walked off. As a drove off and processed the foolishness, I was really tempted to go back. I mean this guy does not know jack about me! He made an assumption or stereotyped me. “You Africans all say you are democrats.” (Dude is African too, Ghanaian). Then he insulted me by saying you don’t know why you are a democrat. I mean, not to blow my own horn but I do have a background in political science and public administration. Unlike Nigeria where you just select a degree so that you can gain admission, I was very intentional about what I studied.
To make matters worse, I doubt this guy went out to vote or was planning to as there was only 30 minutes left at the polls at this time.
People really do need to watch their mouth.

BACK AGAIN!

Blogging has really changed from the way we did it between 2007 to 2011. I think the reasons behind blogging has also changed. Do people even still read blog posts? or is everyone on Instagram, you-tube or twitter?

I've had strong urges to start a new blog for a while now and wanted to take a look at this old one(didn't even realize it still existed.) I've decided to use it instead of starting a new blog. I cracked up a lot reading through some old posts. I didn't even realize I missed this space like that.

I think the basic idea why I started this back then still stands; but since life has happened, content would be completely different but I look forward to writing once again.

I can't promise even myself a structure, would mostly be THOUGHTSINSIDEMYHEAD!

I'm so excited!!!
